Full Moon Hike
Since September 2018, Hejaz Ultra has been organizing Full Moon Hikes, usually about one hour away from Jeddah with different distance and pace: Beginners and more advanced hikers are welcome to take part!
You can lease a Head Torch from us (subject to availability – we only have a hundred Head Torches in stock), or you can bring your own, which will be substantially cheaper on the long run. A red light is mandatory, but you can cover a white light with red electrical tape.

Jeddah Ekiden – Team Relay Marathon
Ekiden (駅伝) is a long-distance running relay race.
The first ekiden was held in Japan in 1917 as a 3-day, 23-stage run from Kyoto to Tokyo for more than 507 kilometers. We now run the Jeddah Ekiden.
Teams of 5 runners will take turn running the distances as follow:
- 5km
- 10km
- 5km
- 10km
- 12.195km

12h Fight-the-Night
12hours Ultra Marathon on a 1000m flat course from 15:00 to 03:00 the next day.
You can Run or Walk.
Two categories: Solo or Relay of 2 Athletes.
Description:
Complete as many laps as you can within the allocated time frame. Take breaks if you want for as long as you want while the clock keeps ticking. Nap as long as you wish.
All participants will be Finishers as this a race against time and not a distance to reach.
The Athlete Village, in front of the Start-Finish line, is also the Food Station (Food provided, but Bring Your Own Snacks ), area and the place where you can enter and leave the course ( taking breaks / naps / toilets stop).
There will be some light in some part of the run/walk course but a Headtorch is required.
Note: This is different from our previous event “Last Hejazi Standing” as athletes should continue after each loop.

Howlin Dog Trail Half
Free yourself from Tarmac and join us for a relatively easy trail Half-Marathon (21.1km).
(“Ease” is measured against our Hejaz 50. It is still trail, with ups and down and the kilometers are not much shorter when you leave the tarmac. )
Last year’s hugely popular Howlin’Dog is back. This year we will “only” be running the Half-Marathon version of this…an out and back on the plateaus just East of Thuwal.
Notes:
- This is beautiful open country mostly up on a plateau where sunrise and views are spectacular
- This is only a one hour drive North of Jeddah…like going to KAUST
- Course has it all, a little climbing, good road, short dunes area at the turnaround
Distances: Since this is an out and back you are welcome to run any distance you wish:
- The full distance will be a relatively flatish trail 21km run that turns at 10.5k…water support will be provided near the 10km mark just before the turn; in 2018 everyone was able to make the full 21K
- We will also mark the 5 k turn in case you want to run or trek a 10k.
Water stops:
- km 5
- km 10

Refugee Run
All over the world people are joining a global movement, in solidarity with families forced to flee their homes. Join today and together we will walk, run and cycle the distance refugees cover each year to reach safety.
We will run in the streets of Jeddah. We will have two groups, running 5km (at a moderate pace) or 11km (at a slightly faster pace in order to finish before we roast under the sun)
We suggest that you register with Strava and join HejazUltra Strava as a club https://www.strava.com/clubs/Hejaz If it is not on Strava …. it didn’t happen.
Once registered on Strava, you should also register on the official UNHCR link https://stepwithrefugees.org. You can do that after completing the registration for Friday’s run. and it remains optional…
We will share the detailed location & timing with the registered participants!
