Iftar Hike: Join us for IFTAR at the top of the beautiful Dunes of Bahrah, near Jeddah, after a 3km Hike & celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan together.
Ramadan is a period of introspection, fasting, prayer, and faithful intention. We will take the opportunity of our Hike in the dunes, to Meditate, for those who want, after breaking our fast in the dunes.
It is FREE to take part. but you must register (click the RSVP button below). Bring your own food/drinks to break your fast once we reach. Food is not provided by the organizers. You may want to bring a LITTLE BIT extra to share but to avoid waste remember that if each participant brings food for two, there will be way too much and it will be wasted!
We will have two groups, going at various pace: to make the 3km hike up to the top of the dunes, Dana Al Gosaibi and Nouff Zarie will be guiding a silent hike to start-off the “vibe”. This will be purely optional. You don’t need to be silent for the full 45mins/60mins it will take us to reach the top. more important that the full silence, the Intention counts.
We’ve been organizing Iftar Hikes since 1441 and Hikes and runs in the desert near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for almost a decade.
For your safety, you must bring some lights for the return. a Head Torch is suggested, but a hand torch is perfectly fine. The Full Moon will be one of our special guest, but it may be cloudy, visibility night be limited on that night and there could always be some hazards so bring some light!
Beginners in Hiking are welcome.
FREE Mandatory Registration.
The meditation – Yoga session will be led at the top of the dune by yoga instructor Dana AlGosaibi and Nouff Zarie, Integrative psychotherapist and consciousness instructor.
The first 2.5km will be on relatively flat – undulating small dunes. Only the final 900m will be more challenging, especially considering we will be fasting. We expect however that anyone relatively fit to reach the top of the dune ahead of Iftar!
Here is how the incline will look like (the second half, in grey, is the return back to the car, with an optional extra climb )
