Ultimate160 – Event description
160km over 3 days. At the end of every run, you get a chance to go home, get a good night of sleep, and if you are stubborn enough, you might opt to come back for more the following day, where you had stopped for another day of fun.
- D1 – Globe Round-About to Usfan Road
- D2 – Usfan Road to Howlin’Dog start
- D3 – Howlin’Dog start to Wadi Murwani-Khulais
There is no camping involved. Unless you decide to camp there. But you’ll probably want to commute.
You will run with food self-sufficiency. Water will be provided “half-way”, each day.
The course is not marked. You will need to follow your GPS device track ( and know how to upload the 3x courses on it beforehand). Should you be using a mobile phone as your GPS, you MUST have a second phone with you for emergency communication. note that GSM coverage will be spotty.
Ultimate160 – Commute
There is no shuttle back to the start. No Uber/Taxi.
You will probably want to partner with some other runners to drop a vehicle at the Finish and drive back to the start with another vehicle which you and your partner will collect at the end of the run with the vehicle dropped in the morning.
With a team of 2 runners, you’ll need to drive to the finish and back to the start every day. If you increase the number of team members, you can take turns on different days on which team members are doing the shuttling. It is suggested you find a partner before you register. We will however list runners who registered ( unless you require not to be listed ) to help runners find a partner. No refund will be offered should you not find a way to commute.
Running less than 160km
Registration grants you the permission to run any or all of the 3 days D1, D2 & D3. You may skip one or two days and still be allowed on the start line. The registration fee is not linked to the number of days you will run.
You may also run shorter distances each day. You must arrange pickup/drop off with your team members for the commute as you should not count on a sweeper vehicle to take you home.
